Farmer is a widely published wine and food writer and senior editor of The Wine News magazine, and has been honored with the James Beard Foundation Award for best writing on wine and spirits. He has judged international wine competitions and led tastings and tours to food and wine regions throughout the world.
Nurick, a retired London wine merchant, is a wine judge and lecturer who has taught wine appreciation courses at Newbury and Henley colleges in the UK. He is currently a full judge with the International Wine Challenge, a global competition open to all wines sold in Britain.
Silversea said that on each wine-themed cruise, travelers can sample great vintages and learn about the tradition and art of winemaking during tastings and lectures. Depending on the itinerary, passengers may also have the chance to explore celebrated wine regions on optional guided shore excursions.
Farmer will host Silver Shadow's Feb. 4 sailing from Auckland to Fremantle, a 19-day program; Silver Whisper's May 1 Monte Carlo to Southampton cruise, 12 days; Silver Cloud's Aug. 13 London to Monte Carlo cruise, 14 days; and Silver Cloud's Dec. 22 Buenos Aires to Valparaiso cruise, 16 days.
Nurick will host Silver Whisper's July 26 Southampton to Lisbon voyage, and the ship's subsequent Aug. 4 Lisbon to Southampton cruise. Each sailing is nine days.
