Year round family adventuresKids love Windjammer and Windjammer loves kids. It's awesome! That's the best way to describe the thrill of sailing on a tall ship. The fun starts the moment you cross the gangplank. Hook-up with kids and teens your own age as Windjammer raises the sails, catch a trade wind and head for a week of adventure.Trek through the lush canopy of a natural rainforest. Buzz around on a jet ski or snorkel coral reefs alive with colorful fish. Hike to the top of a waterfall and plunge in for a cool swim. By the end of the cruise, you're sure to have a bunch of friends to add to your buddy list.
Windjammer has the cure for the summer bluesWindjammer's summer family programs are perfect for kids, teens and adults. From scavenger hunts to scuba lessons they offer activities for any interest. Teens will love exploring the islands with new found friends, while Junior Jammers can't wait to hit the beach. Of course, spending time with Mom and Dad is always an option. Remember this is your vacation - you set the pace.
Junior Jammers (Age 6 - 11)
Under the watchful eye of trained and friendly counselors, Junior Jammers explore the Caribbean. Islands, palm trees, a tall ship in full sail... suddenly it dawns on you, you're living every kids fantasy! Step aside Captain, it's my turn at the wheel . . . go exploring, snorkeling or beach romping.
Junior Jammers help the Captain sail, venture ashore to build sandcastles; go beach-romping and snorkeling; take mini field trips to get ice cream; play wacky Olympics on the top deck, visit a pirate museum and swim with the dolphins. Junior Jammers love pizza parties and Windjammer's kid friendly food will satisfy your appetite! And while you're having fun, Mom and Dad will have plenty of time to do their own thing.
A Typical Junior Jammer DayMorning: Good morning Captain Sir! Just after Story Time, you'll take a guided tour of the ship. You'll learn the difference between fore and aft- port and starboard. When it's your turn at the helm, you'll say "aye aye" sir with confidence! Head for the beach and explore Neptune's realm by snorkel or SASY. What's SASY? It's supplied air snorkeling for youths or a kiddie version of scuba. Mid Day: Yo, ho, ho, a pirates' life for me... It's just after lunch and you're off to explore the Pirate's Museum. Totally interactive, you'll feel like you took a time machine to when pirates ruled the seas! If a museum is not your thing - explore the town with the JJ leader and all of your new friends. Afternoon: The JJ leaders have arranged a scavenger hunt, followed by Wacky Beach Olympics. Later, you can actually swim with dolphins! Swizzle Time: Meet Chef top deck where you'll build your own ice cream sundae! But don't use up all your energy, the day is not over. The JJ leaders are planning a fun evening of crab races, games and movies. Dinner: Mom and Dad want to be filled in on all the days events. Dine family style or hang out with your JJ leader and friends. It's up to you, after all you're on vacation. Party Time: End the day with a game of Twister, watch a movie, work on your skit (yeah, Mom & Dad need to be entertained too). Lights Out: Bed time, lights out! You need your rest. Tomorrow is another day full of sunshine and adventure. Teen Jammers (ages 12 - 17)
Life on a tall ship is ideal for young adults. Young, curious minds are exposed to local Caribbean culture, the tropics, and tall ship sailing - what an awesome experience. Think about it ---Have you ever taken the helm of a tall sailing ship? Slept under a blanket of stars? Hoisted a sail? Or just experienced the thrill and excitement of blue water sailing? On a Windjammer cruise, you'll do all this and more!
Teens are encouraged to participate in group activities both onboard and ashore. Activities include steel-drum lessons, hiking the rainforests, shopping at local markets and socializing at European-style cafes. Moreover, there's ample time for relaxing and lounging at the beach. Water sports like parasailing, jet-skiing, windsurfing are popular for those who crave extra adventure. Hiking, kayaking, and snorkeling are also available. A favorite among teens is sleeping-under-the-stars on the top deck while the ship is under sail.
A Typical Teen Jammer DayMorning: It's Tuesday morning and you're ready for the day's adventure. The Teen Leaders have another exciting day planned and you're ready for action. The morning is off to an adrenaline pumped start as you furiously paddle your ocean kayak to a private beach. Show 'em who's got the muscle. Hit the surf and slow down the pace a bit. Snorkel, sun bake or go lime (island speak for hanging out) under the shade of a palm tree. Mid Day: It's time for a snack on the beach. You'll need this fuel stop as the crew has challenged the teens to a post lunch volleyball game. The record is now Crew 10 - Teens 11. After the game you'll head back to the ship. Afternoon: There's a sailing class top deck followed by an informal dance class you don't want to miss. A live band will be playing tonight and you want to make sure you learn how to whine (dance) island style and move to the Caribbean beat. Swizzle Time: Grab your virgin swizzle and head to the aft-deck for a recap of your days activities. Don't forget to snag your share of the shrimp pizza before heading out, it's just the thing to tide you over till dinner. Dinner: Served family style, dinner is a welcomed time perfect for filling your parents in on your busy day. They'll be envious when they hear about your wild adventures, since they wasted the day away lounging on the beach. Party Time: Time to head down to your cabin and put on your finest Caribbean costume - It's party time! Lights Out: Worn out from a full day? Or, if you prefer, grab your pillow and a blanket and head to the top deck. Claim your own piece of deck and fall asleep to more stars than you ever imagined and the sound of the wind in the rigging.
