This morning, you can do as much or as little as you want. Perhaps indulge in your luxuriously appointed suite, which cocoons you with the comforts of a 6-star hotel. Ask your butler to bring breakfast to your suite, where you can enjoy it on the verandah as the ocean slip by outside. Visit the Sky Bar and outdoor Vitality Pool on Deck 10, where you can bask in the tropical sun from the comfort of a private cabana. Step into the tranquil Senses Spa on Deck 6, equipped with steam rooms, infrared saunas, and KLAFS Salt Therapy Lounge. Relax with a coffee or a cocktail at one of the bars and lounges onboard. Stretching 123 kilometers long, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is the largest sand island in the world. Anchoring near Kingfisher Bay Jetty, you will arrive by Zodiac and be joined by local indigenous guides for an excursion along the western side of Fraser Island and through the marine reserve of the Great Sandy Strait. Visit the historic Central Station, where you can walk along the peaceful banks of Wanggoolba Creek as it flows through the rainforest. Stroll along the foreshore or swim in the clear waters of Lake McKenzie, famous for its pure white silica sand.
Day 4 - Thursday - Apr 25, 2024
Gladstone is the southern gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Today is Anzac Day, which marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the World War I. Join the Discovery Team at the Dawn Service to pay your respects to the troops, a poignant and moving experience. Sailing north, marvel at the natural beauty of the secluded coves, islands, and beaches on the way to the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef.
Day 5 - Friday - Apr 26, 2024
Only accessible by light plane or ship, the Percy Islands are known for the isolated anchorages surrounded by forest. On Middle Percy, the A-frame hut beneath the coconut palms at West Beach hosts an eclectic collection of flotsam and jetsam donated by visiting sailors. Have fun browsing the boat name plaques, flags, buoys, and driftwood.

The gateway to the stunning Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef, Airlie Beach is a coastal town with palm-fringed beaches, eternal summer, and a laid-back vibe. It is an essential stop on any East Coast voyage, and from there you'll depart for one of the most remarkable experiences of your voyage.

Known for its natural beauty and abundant wildlife, Magnetic Island offers a unique blend of tropical landscapes and leisure experiences. The island is home to stunning beaches, secluded bays, and lush hiking trails. The Forts Walk is one of the highlights, where you can enjoy a scenic trail and almost certainly spot koalas resting in the trees overhead. You'll spend half your day here, with plenty of time to explore the vibrant marine life and nature at leisure. A continuous shuttle service between Horseshoe Bay and Nelly Bay allows you to tailor your day to your needs and interests.

The Coral Sea Islands Territory extends east and south from the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef, covering 51 islets and cays alongside 30 separate reefs and atolls. Boasting 15,000 square kilometers of reef systems and an abundance of corals, fish, sea stars, clams, and cucumbers, the Coral Sea Marine Park is one of the world's largest, protecting 16 seafloors. We'll cruise around Willis Island, the only permanently inhabited island, with four staff employed at the weather monitoring station. It was established in 1921 to provide Queenslanders with an early cyclone warning service. As this is your last evening onboard, gather with new friends at one of the eight bars and lounges, sharing stories and photos of your wonderful journey of discovery.

Welcome to Cairns. This is the only place where two UNESCO World Heritage Sites collide - the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest. The town itself exemplifies the laid-back lifestyle that Queensland is famous for and is packed with wonderful places to eat, al fresco bars, and vibrant markets.

Nestled in the Coral Sea, Willis Island is the only permanently inhabited island in this pristine region, housing a vital weather monitoring station since 1921. Four dedicated staff members tirelessly monitor weather conditions, ensuring the safety of Queensland residents. Explore the Coral Sea Marine Park, protecting 16 seafloors and 15,000 square kilometers of reefs, teeming with diverse marine life, including green turtles and various bird species. Enjoy birdwatching from your suite's verandah with complimentary binoculars.

This morning, we will cruise along the northernmost section of the Great Barrier Reef, near the remote Cape York Peninsula. Creech Reef and Sandy Cay, located around 60 kilometers from the mainland and accessible only by smaller vessels like Scenic Eclipse II, offer expansive coral reefs spanning up to 40 kilometers wide. We will stop at Sandy Cay, a secluded private island in the Coral Sea. This is a top snorkeling spot on the Great Barrier Reef, with abundant marine life and warm waters for extended exploration. You can easily access the water from Scenic Eclipse II or use the onboard water toys.

We will sail north overnight to Cape York, mainland Australia's northernmost point, a dream destination for many. Today, Scenic Eclipse II glides through York Sound to the mouth of the Hunter River. A true wilderness with jaw-dropping panoramas of wild escarpments, monsoon rainforests, and the four-tiered Mitchell Falls, carved out over millennia. Watch nature's magnificent show as the sun sets, cocktail in hand. Tides and timings permitting, a stop at Careening Bay in the Prince Regent National Park is where you may view the famous Mermaid Tree, an enormous bifurcated boab on which the ship's crew of the HMC Mermaid carved the name of the ship and year, 1820.

Wake to a completely new vista at Montgomery Reef, the world's largest inshore reef that boasts some of the Earth's biggest tidal changes reaching up to 10 meters (33 feet). As the tides rise or fall, both soft and hard coral are exposed, falling below sea level to create a remarkable spectacle. Go ashore at Freshwater Cove located on Worrorra country and meet with traditional Dambimangari guides of the Arraluli clan and be immersed into the importance of their culture. Hear about the Traditional Owners and the story of how the Wijingarra, or native spotted quoll, came into being and how the area's freshwater was created.

Sir David Attenborough named the Horizontal Falls at Talbot Bay "one of the greatest natural wonders of the world". Created by a unique combination of geology and massive tidal surges squeezed through two narrow cliff passages, this is the only place in the world where horizontal falls exist. After a full day exploring this fascinating region, relax in the Vitality Pool located on the Sky Deck, and gaze out across the breathtaking panoramic views.

Koolan Island and Cockatoo Island are known as the Iron Islands; for enthusiasts of geology and geography they are of significant interest. Over thousands of years, powerful tides have forged rugged cliffs of deep orange ochre. Over lunch onboard, we sail to remote and beautiful Oolin / Sunday Island, once home to the Jawi tribe that lived on the mission that was established in 1899. We meet local Jawi woman, Rosanna Angus, whose family lived on Sunday Island in the early days of the mission.
