Traveling to Antarctica is unlike any other cruise vacation. On a cheap Antarctica cruise, you'll likely leave from South America and stop at places like the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and Cape Evans. There are no actual ports of call on the continent, so ships anchor at nearby islands and guests are escorted to land on Zodiacs. As only 100 guests are allowed to disembark in Antarctica at a time, your ship's passenger count is likely to be low. Once in Antarctica, you'll get the chance to see a stunning display of wildlife in their natural habitat, including fur seals, penguins, whales, and albatrosses. If you're feeling brave, you can even kayak or paddleboard through Antarctica's icy waters.

There's only a small window of time each year to travel on a cheap Antarctica cruise vacation - between December and February, when the temperatures are mild enough to comfortably visit (usually between 20 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit). This period of time is high summer in Antarctica, so you'll get to experience up to 20 hours of sunlight each day. Most Antarctic cruises are at least 10 nights, and include a variety of destinations like Chile, the Falkland Islands, and King George Island.
