Taieri Gorge Journey with Dunedin

Your day starts with a coach transfer from the port to the iconic Dunedin Railway Station. Here, you'll board the Taieri Gorge Railway for a scenic trip through the rugged Taieri River Gorge. As the train winds its way across historic viaducts and through hand-carved tunnels, you'll hear fascinating commentary about the railway's construction and the region's history. There are stops along the way, giving you the chance to step outside and take in the dramatic landscapes up close.

After returning to Dunedin by rail, your tour continues by coach with an introduction to the city's rich heritage and striking scenery. Enjoy views over Dunedin's harbour and city from a scenic lookout, then visit New Zealand's first botanical garden and see the country's oldest university. You'll also pass through the classic courthouse precinct near the grand old railway station and stop at Baldwin Street, recognized as the world's steepest residential street.

Your tour takes in more local landmarks, including Olveston House, the well-known Robbie Burns statue that celebrates the Scottish poet and unofficial patron of the arts in Dunedin, and the historic Otago Boys' High School.
