Viking Oceans Profile

Viking Oceans

Viking Cruises continues the Viking tradition of exploration along the world's greatest waterways. Viking Oceans, the small-ship ocean cruising division of Viking Cruises, was developed with the same principles that were applied to Viking Cruises' award-winning river cruises - small, intimate ships with destination-focused itineraries that allow guests an opportunity for in-depth exploration and cultural experiences both onboard and ashore.

The Viking Oceans Difference

Virtually everything is included. Viking Inclusive Cruising provides you with outstanding value. Every Viking Ocean cruise fare includes:
  • Veranda stateroom, each with outdoor seating
  • Shore excursions in each port of call, led by knowledgeable local guides
  • All onboard meals including specialty restaurants
  • Beer, wine and soft drinks with lunch and dinner service
  • Specialty coffee and teas
  • Wi-Fi (subject to certain usage policies)
  • Self-service laundry facilities
  • 24-hour room service

Itineraries are destination focused. Each cruise is hand-crafted to include a mix of both cosmopolitan cities and smaller ports of interest. Specifically designed with longer hours in port, including late evening stays and overnights, travelers with an interest in history, art, regional cuisine and culture will have more time to fully immerse themselves in each remarkable port.

All Viking Oceans cruises include the exclusive Viking Culture Curriculum program that brings history and culture to life through onboard enrichment lectures; language classes; hands-on cooking demonstrations and classes; and local entertainment to complement included shore excursions.

Enjoy world-class service on state-of-the-art ships with eleven dining venues, two pools, spa, lounge variety of onboard entertainment and large, all-veranda staterooms.

Viking Oceans Cruise Ships

Welcome to a different kind of ship, a different kind of journey. The Viking Star (928-Guests) and her sister ships, the Viking Sky (930-Guests) and Viking Sea (930-Guests), were built at a scale to that allows them to discover smaller ports of call and dock in the middle of town for direct access to each destination.

Thoughtfully designed, each Viking Oceans cruise ship features a host of luxurious services and onboard amenities set amid a modern, Scandinavian-style that is open and airy, resulting in an understated elegance. Viking's ocean ships also feature energy-efficient hybrid engines, hydro-dynamically optimized streamlined hulls and bows for maximum fuel efficiency, onboard solar panels, and equipment that minimizes exhaust pollution and meets the strictest environmental regulations.

Viking Oceans Accommodations

You will find a variety of stateroom categories from Veranda Staterooms to Owner's Suites on Viking Oceans' ships, but all staterooms feature private verandas with outdoor seating.

Some even feature late evenings or overnights, so you can stay at that museum until closing, or experience local nightlife.

Viking Oceans Dining

Viking Oceans cruise ships offer multiple restaurant locations and food choices, from casual poolside cafes to intimate specialty restaurants, all at no additional charge. The main dining room, The Restaurant, serves daily-changing regional specialties prepared with fresh, local ingredients alongside American classics. Onboard Activities - What to do on a Viking Oceans Cruise

Onboard Cultural Enrichment: Viking Ocean cruises are centered around where you go, not just how you get there. The best way to understand a destination is to immerse yourself in the region's history, music, art and cuisine even while onboard with enrichment lectures from history experts and academic luminaries, enrichment classes, port guides, as well as cooking, dance, cinema and musical performances.

Entertainment: Viking Ocean's main entertainment venue, The Theater, features spacious, plush seating, live performances and fresh insights from enrichment sessions that explore each destination's history, art, culture and upcoming ports. Cinema is also provided in two onboard move theaters, which show first-run films as well as destination-driven films such as "Room with A View," "Roman Holiday," or "Skyfall."

Explorer's Lounge: With two-story panoramic windows, perfect for glimpsing your first fjord or stunning Mediterranean seaside town, the Explorer's Lounge is a place to relax in elegant surroundings and take in the scenery. Plus, with a selection of craft beers and the Viking Deli, this is the perfect atmosphere for close-knit camaraderie.

Pools & Spa: Swim surrounded by your destination in the glass-backed Infinity Pool cantilevered off the stern. In the evening, the space transforms into the Aquavit Terrace, where you can dine to music playing and watch the world unfold. Or experience the Main Pool, complete with a retractable roof, so you can always enjoy the perfect swim. Here, on star-filled nights, gather with friends and enjoy an outdoor movie as you sail under a canopy of stars. And when it is time to relax, try the ultimate centuries-old Scandinavian tradition in the Snow Grotto and sauna; or a massage in The Spa, which follows the holistic wellness philosophy of Nordic culture.

Wintergarden: This charming, airy retreat around the main pool is perfect for relaxing in clean, uncluttered Scandinavian-designed environment. Indulge in an afternoon tea service, complete with the calming notes of a harpist and hand-selected teas, finger sandwiches and pastries.
